Jeffrey Broussard and Zydeco Force were back
again in 2001 to supply that great French Zydeco sound that draws people from all over the
country to the LSU at Eunice campus for the annual dance sponsored by the St. Landry
Parish Council on Aging the Monday afternoon before Mardi Gras . Senior citizens from the area were well represented at the dance, but
visitors from near and far also were heating up the dance floor.
Shown below are Mae Austin, the Mardi Gras Queen, and R.J.
Hebert, the Mardi Gras King. Others to receive awards (not pictured) were Frances and
Floyd Young, the best dancers; Julia Hatchet, most traditional costume; and Gladys
Fontenot, prettiest costume.
KBON's Freddie Pate was emcee for the event. Mary Chapman is
director of the St. Landry Parish Council on Aging.
